Pierrefontaine-lès-Blamont

Pierre Fontaine- lès- Blamont is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Pierre Fontaine- lès- Blamont is located on 560 m, about 16 km south of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located in the northern Jura, at the northern foot of the Lomont and at the edge of the vast plateau of the Jura plateau, east of the Doubstals, near the border with Switzerland.

The area of ​​8.96 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the northern French Jura. The northern part of the area occupied by the slightly corrugated board Jura plateau, which is on average 550 m and rises slightly towards the south. The plateau is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land. There are no surface watercourses, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. Below the village the hollow of a side valley of the Creuse (source Bach of England ) takes its beginning. The eastern boundary runs in the valley section of the Combe Noire, where the cave is located Aunt Arie.

To the south, the municipality's area extends over the wooded hillside to the ridge of the Lomont. This ridge forms in geological- tectonic respects an anticline of the Jura Mountains, which is oriented in a west-east direction according to the strike of the mountains in this region. History

Since the Middle Ages Pierre Fontaine belonged to the rule Blamont. After the village had come in 1506 under the suzerainty of the Counts of Montbéliard, the Reformation was introduced. As part of the rule Blamont, which formed one of the four gentlemen of the Principality of Montbéliard and was annexed in 1699 by France, Pierre Fontaine in 1748 came contractually finally to France. To avoid confusion with other communities of the same name, Pierre Fontaine was officially renamed in 1962 in Pierre Fontaine- lès- Blamont. Today, the village belongs to the municipality of Communauté de communes Association des Balcons du Lomont.

Attractions

The village church of Pierre Fontaine- lès- Blamont was built in 1781. In the center a few farmhouses are obtained in the characteristic style of the Franche -Comté from the 17th to 19th centuries. On the ridge of the Lomont the Fort du Lomont are ( built 1875-1879 ) and the Tour Carrée, which belong to the fastening system of the Lomont.

Population

With 404 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Pierre Fontaine- lès- Blamont is one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 343 persons were still counted ), a strong population growth has been recorded since the mid- 1980s. Since then, the population has doubled.

Economy and infrastructure

Pierre Fontaine- lès- Blamont was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village.
