Pikoo ( Bengali: পিকু, Piku ) is an Indian short film by Satyajit Ray from 1980 The film is based on Ray's short story Pikur Diari. .
Action
In a family of Bengali upper class boy Pikoo lives with his parents and bedridden grandfather. When the father leaves the house in the morning, he asks casually his wife whether her lover will come, for he had found strange hair on his pillow. The son Pikoo stays at home because he has no school. He alone is concerned in the house with marbles and cycling. Then he visits his bedridden grandfather, who has heart disease. He tells him of a dispute with his mother, his father. He then observed a servant while eating and calls from the house phone from random numbers.
Hitesh uncle, his mother's lover comes along and brings Pikoo as gift new felt pens. His mother suggested that he go into the garden and should paint flowers. Pikoo goes Seema and Hitesh disappears in the bedroom. She tells Hitesh that her husband is suspicious. When you close the curtains she watched her son in the garden in front of the flowers squatting. She cries because of her behavior towards Pikoo. Hitesh said, he would not have come if he had known.
Pikoo always looking for new flowers, while his grandfather dies. From the garden he calls his mother naked with Hitesh is just in bed, "I do not have a white pen, I paint the white flower with black". A raindrop falls on his hand and he returns to the house.
Pikoo hear his mother in the bedroom with Hitesh an argument and then goes to his grandfather, who is now dead. Weeping, he sits on the porch and painted from another flower.
Background
Ray received the offer to make a movie of their choice for French television FR3 during Hirak Rajar Deshe filming of the freelance producer Henri Fraise. Ray decided to use one of his own stories from the perspective of an unsuspecting child.
