Pleasures of the Flesh is the second studio album by the American thrash metal band Exodus. It was released in 1987 on Combat Records. It is the first album with vocalist Steve Souza.

Formation

Pleasures of the Flesh was. Following the departure of Paul Baloff, who had to leave the band due to personal and musical differences as well as due to the consumption of alcohol With Baloff some demos had already been recorded for the album. He is also known as co-author in the plays Seeds of Hate, Pleasures of the Flesh and Braindead. The remaining pieces were written by Gary Holt, Steve Souza, who came from Testament. By 30 Seconds 40 seconds long a piece with classical guitar was recorded. The album in the studio Alpha & Omega Recordings produced was recorded in San Francisco and Marc Senesac and the band. The initially planned producer Mark Whitaker was released, which led to a delay in the album release. Whitaker had produced the drum tracks on the album.

The album was released with a comic -like original cover showing the band as cannibals who prepare their meal. Of this there was also a picture disc. A later shot shows the band members at a counter.

Eduardo Rivadavia of Allmusic called Pleasures of the Flesh " almost an evolutionary step backwards". Besides the catchy title track from the plate deliver nothing. He gave two stars out of five. The magazine Rock Hard in 2009 recorded the album in its list of the 250 thrash metal albums that you should know on. Pleasures of the Flesh reached # 82 in the U.S. album charts.

Steve Souza called Pleasures of the Flesh 2013 next Fabulous Disaster as his favorite album of Exodus.
