History

The Poisoned Pawn came in 1954, tournament chess in the games Rashid Gibyatowitsch Neschmetdinow - David Bronstein, Belgrade - Sherbakov, Riga and Egon Joppen. It has since been repeatedly applied by grand masters of the world leaders in the 1960s to the 1970s, for example, by Bobby Fischer, Viktor Korchnoi and Mikhail Tal. In the 1990s, until his retirement from chess (2005) Garry Kasparov was occasionally on the variant, so he won around with black leaves the fourth game of the match at the World Chess Championship 1993 against Nigel Short. Vishy Anand played in 2007 at the Corus chess tournament with both white against Loek van Wely and Black against Alexander Motyljow two intricate parts in this play, which he could both win.

1972 in Reykjavik, the Poisoned Pawn was played for the first time at a World Chess Championship, it was Bobby Fischer in the so-called Match of the Century, the ... Qd8 - b6 played the sharp train 7 in the 7th and 11th competetive game against Boris Spassky. In the seventh game of Fischer scored an advantage, but he could not apply to the victory, while he was clearly beaten in the 11th game after recovering from tangles.

The evaluation of the variant is still the subject of theoretical investigations and trials. It is not clear whether the farmer is really " poisons ".

  • 9 Nd4 -b3 also threatens women catch by 10 a2 -a3 and 11 Nc3 -d1 or 11 Ta1 -a2. The train 9 ... Db2 a3 gives the first lady an escape route. Spassky elected in 1972, first in the seventh game of the match then unknown train 10 Lf1 -d3, which led to a complicated drawn game. In the 11th game he played the conventional train 10 Lg5xf6 g7xf6 with deterioration of the black pawn structure. The main variant, 11 Lf1 - e2 Sb8 c6 - 12 has emerged 0-0 Bc8 - d7. White stand for his 13th train various options available, such as proven Mikhail Tal 13 Le2 h5 - f4 - f5 and 13, and Garry Kasparov played in two games in 1982 against Elmar Məhərrəmov 13 Tf1 -f3, but today is 13 K g1 -h1 the most common train. Black can stop with 13 ... h7 - h5 the active white runners -up Le2 - h5 in the 13th (or earlier in the 11th or 12th train ). In this position (after diverter ) Spassky played the paradoxical 14 Nc3 -b1, b2 what Da3 - 15 could lead to a repetition of moves after 14 ... Nb1 - c3 -a3 Db2. Fischer gave way with 14 ... While Evans took the piece sacrifice with 15 ... g7xf6 and allowed an attack on the castling position, 15 ... Sd7xf6 has 16 e5xf6 Rf8 -d8 17 Tb3xb4 Da5xb4 proven 18 Dd2 - g5 g7- g6 as playable.

Since then applies 12 Nc3 -e4 as the main feature.
  • 10 f4 - f5 is the alternative plan of the White, which developed in the 1960s. The plan is a pressure game to the point e6 with Lf1 - c4, followed by a short castling, opening the f-file, possibly connected with the exchange on f6, after which the black kingside is weakened further. 10 ... c6 11 Sb8 f5xe6 f7xe6 12 Sd4xc6 b7xc6 13 e4 e5 d6xe5 14 Lg5xf6 g7xf6 15 Nc3 -e4 is the result. In 2003 it was discovered instead the possibility of 17 Th1 -f1 -f3 Tf1 with the idea that White seems to bring in advantage. Therefore, black grips mostly back to the variant 15 ... Da3xa2 16 Tb1 -d1 - e7 Bf8 17 Lf1 - e2 0-0 18 0-0 Ta8 - a7, which, however, often leads to a perpetual check, such as the game Vallejo Pons - Garry Kasparov, Petrosian Memorial Tournament Moscow, 2004, the course in large parts of the game PGV Andersson - A. Poulsen, ninth Correspondence Chess Olympiad, Final 1992-1993 was foreshadowed. A possible alternative is 18 ... f6 - f5.
  • White can prepare the entanglements with the trains 10 Lg5xf6 g7xf6 11 Lf1 - e2 and
  • 10 Lf1 - e2 - e7 Bf8 11 h7 - h6 0-0 12 Bg5 - h4.
  • 8 Dd1 -d3 is a rarely performed but also dangerous possibility that has been revived lately among others by Azerbaijani players. After 8 ... 9 Db6xb2 Ta1 -b1 -a3 Db2 10 f4 f5 Sb8 c6 - 11 f5xe6 f7xe6 12 Sd4xc6 b7xc6 13 Lf1 - e2 - e7 Bf8 White has castled frequently in the 14th train briefly, or the position attacked the black king with 14 e4 e5 d6xe5 15 Lg5xf6 g7xf6 16 Le2 - h5 Ke8 -f8 under the victim of a second pawn, eg (after diverter ) in the game John Nunn - Garry Kasparov won, Brussels, 1987, where black could defend himself and after 27 moves. In the game Rauf Məmmədov - Dmitri Kokarew, European Individual Championship 2008, set white contrast with 14 Le2 - h5 ! g7- g6 15 e4 e5! continued, received after the settlement 15 ... Nf6 -d5 16 Tb1 -b3 - a5 Da3 17 Lg5xe7 Sd5xe7 18 e5xd6 Da5xh5 19 d6xe7 DH5 - h4 20 g2 - g3 Dh4xe7 21 0-0 lead in development and won after 29 moves. Lately, black gives way to the diagram position, mostly from. So, for example, held Alexander Grischuk in his game against Vüqar Həşimov to Elista in 2008 his queen's knight on b8 first back and played instead 10 ... Bf8 - e7 11 f5xe6 f7xe6 12 Lf1 - e2 Da3 - a5, but ran into a disadvantage and had to go to 64 trains give up.
  • In the initial position White still has the tricky train 8 a2 -a3. The farmer is now apparently " poisoned " by 8 ... Db6xb2? 9 Nc3 -a4 would already be too late to save the lady: Women's catcher. 8 ... Bc8 - d7 prepares the Poisoned Pawn.
