Polish Ice Hockey Federation

Polski Związek Hokeja na Łodzie ( PZHL ) ( Polish Hockey Association ) is the national hockey federation of Poland, based in Warsaw Śródmieście. Around 2300 players are members of the umbrella organization, which is divided into seven district associations. Current president is Zdzisław Ingielewicz.

History

In the early 1920s were based in Warsaw clubs, the first separate departments for the sport of ice hockey. The Association itself was founded on 22 February 1925 in Warsaw and added to the International Ice Hockey Federation on 11 January 1926. He belongs to the IIHF full members. By the Association of the Ice Hockey World Championships were organized in 1931 in Krynica and 1976 in Katowice. One of the biggest successes of Lord national team include winning the silver medal at the Ice Hockey World Championship 1929 in Budapest, a fourth place at the local World Cup 1931 (second in the final placement of the EM) and a fourth place in a year later held the Olympic Hockey Tournament 1932 Lake Placid.

In 1994 the sports high school SzkoĹ Mistrzostwa Sportowego Polskiego Związku Hokeja na Łodzie was founded by PZHL in Sosnowiec. The first team of SMS Sosnowiec took part in the Playoff Final and the I league.

Tasks

The association takes care mainly to the implementation of the Games of the Polish national ice hockey team and the women's team and the junior teams. In addition, the association organizes the sport at club level, including in the Playoff Final.
