The Pösgraben behind Kleinpösna

The Pösgraben is a creek in the southeast of Leipzig. In his final section he has the name Ochs ditch. Water Legally, it is a body of water of the second order. He is straightened out on long drives through settlements or over farmland running.

Course

The Pösgraben occurs in the northern part of the upper timber of two spring-fed streams. He leaves the upper timber through an underpass under the railway route from Leipzig to Geithain. Through the settlement Obernholz it runs partly cased, partly in a newly built moat. Then he happened Großpösna and crosses under the A38 motorway in the parking lot Pösgraben. He reached the Liebertwolkwitzer corridor and thus the city of Leipzig. Before the landfill Liebertwolkwitz takes his Naunhofer country road on the next swing of the left ditch. Now in a wide arc it flows around the Holzhausener Colmberg. Shortly before reaching Kleinpösna comes from the right of the boundary ditch Kleinpösna. At the entrance of Kleinpösna can be derived through the branching Kleinpösnaer Umflutgraben in the Zauchgraben by means of a contactor excess water. Now pervades the Pösgraben Kleinpösna and crosses under the A14 motorway. From here it is called ox ditch. After about a kilometer of the ox ditch leaves the Leipzig area and opens after about 600 meters in the Threne.

With the 1999 annexation of Liebertwolkwitz, Holzhausen and Kleinpösna to Leipzig the Pösgraben was a Leipzig waters. The length of the Pösgrabens is 10.45 km ( 1.61 km ox ditch ). 6.55 km of Pösgrabens run to Leipzig city.

Flood

The relatively large catchment area of Pösgrabens connected to the low gradient leads to heavy rain or sudden onset of thaw in its lower reaches to a large flood hazard. Of particular Kleinpösna is affected. Significant floods were recorded in the town in the years 1854, 1886, 1940, 1943, 1954, 1982 and 2002. To reduce the water flowing through the place a contactor was built to drain the Umflutgraben at the entrance.
