Primitive is the second studio album by the metal band Soulfly. It was released in September 2000 on Roadrunner Records.

Formation and style

Primitive originated in the Salt Mine Studio Oasis in Mesa, Arizona, with producer Toby Wright. It had quite a few guest musicians: Chino Moreno on the song Pain or Tom Araya at terrorist, a piece that can be heard in the text line by Inner Self by Cavalera's former band Sepultura and Criminally Insane Araya of Slayer band. Mulambo was taken with the same strain, Son song with Sean Lennon. Here, in the latter song pop elements in Bring It come a dub - reggae part and Mulambo and In Memory Of ... Reception
