David Kinkade

David Kinkade (born 25 August 1983) is a former drummer for the band Borknagar, and worked with the band Soulfly.

History

David Kinkade was born in 1983 in New Jersey. At the age of three he began playing drums when his grandfather gave him his drums.

He is known for his quick hand and double-bass technique. Kinkade is not limited to the Metal genre. He is also well experienced in the fields of jazz, fusion, progressive rock, swing and rock.

As his main influences Metallica, Pink Floyd, Kiss, Iron Maiden, Sepultura, Immortal, Emperor, and Devin Townsend Project apply. Kinkade is, by the drummers Gavin Harrison, Horacio " El Negro" Hernandez, Nick Barker, Mike Mangini, Hellhammer, Nick Mason, Carmine Appice, Vinnie Appice, Dave Lombardo, Nicko McBrain, Peter Criss, Eric Singer, Eric Carr, Neil Peart Lars Ulrich and Pete Sandoval strongly influenced.

In August 2011, he was announced as the new drummer of the band Soulfly.

In October 2011 he separated from his band Borknagar.

Personal

In addition to his love for music Kinkade is very active in animal welfare. In 2007 he founded the Foundation Metal 4 Pets Foundation, which speaks out against animal abuse. The foundation's goal is to fight the Metal world against animal abuse.

Kinkade can also look back at eight years professional private lessons. In summer 2008, he worked with 13 pupils aged 7-13 years at a middle school program that had the aim to teach children with autism to play the drums and percussion.

He currently lives in Chicago.
