3 (Soulfly album)

3 is the third studio album by the metal band Soulfly. It was released in June 2002 on Roadrunner Records.

Formation and style

The album was in the Chaton Studios in Phoenix, Arizona included, with Max Cavalera self-produced and Terry Date took over the mix. After the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001 was taken on the album with 9-11-01 in a minute of silence. On the cover of the Om symbol is seen, which is used in Indian religions. Guests were Cristian Machado of Ill Nino, who sang at One and Cavalera's stepson Ritchie and singer Asha Rabouin who took over together with Cavalera at Tree of Pain singing. Brazilian influences can be found in the instrumentation, in about sitar and berimbau were used. With One Nation a piece of Sacred Reich Surf Nicaragua was covered, in which Greg Hall and Wiley Arnett participated from that band.

Reception

Andreas Himmelstein awarded in the magazine Rock Hard nine out of ten. He wrote that the band deliver their " strongest album to date vielschichtigstes and " from. The crossover of the band sounded " much more organic than before."
