Mike Mangini

Mike Mangini ( born April 18, 1963 in Newton, Massachusetts) is an American drummer who is Dream Theater as successor to Mike Portnoy since 2010 member of the band. From 2002 to 2005 he set five records in the quick - play drums.

In bands like Extreme, Annihilator or as a studio musician Steve Vai and James LaBrie, he gained experience, he was able to implement a professor at Boston's Berklee College of Music for the classroom. As one of seven drummers, he was charged in October 2010 by the band Dream Theater to audition to find a replacement for Mike Portnoy, who left the band in September 2010. Mangini gave up his teaching career when he was selected as the new drummer. In the album A Dramatic Turn of Events he was first heard as Dream Theater member. On the bonus DVD of the album, the documentary about the search for Portnoy's successor is included.
