Prince Carl Philip, Duke of Värmland

Carl Philip Edmund Bertil, Prince of Sweden, Duke of Värmland ( born May 13, 1979 in Stockholm ) is the second child and only son of King Carl XVI. Gustaf of Sweden and Queen Silvia. Carl Philip was born as the crown prince of Sweden. After changing the succession law in 1980, his older sister, Crown Princess Victoria was. Prince Carl Philip is now in third place in the Swedish throne.

After completing his education in 1999, Prince Carl Philip began his military service. He finished this in 2002 with the rank of lieutenant. From 2003 to May 2006, he studied graphic design at the Stockholm Forsberg's School of Design. In 2011 he completed a degree in Agricultural Science at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Alnarp successfully with the Lantmästarexamen.

The Prince is a keen amateur photographer since childhood and ran his hobby among other things, as an intern at the U.S. National Geographic magazine and professional. In May 2007, he presented the Anatomical Theatre of the Museum Gustavianum in Uppsala under the title A touch of paradise 30 detailed views of flowers and other nature scenes from the Botanical Garden of Uppsala.

Marital status

Carl Philip is unmarried. In 2008, he parted from Emma Pernald with which he was associated for nine years. In 2010, the Court confirmed that the prince and Sofia Hellqvist are a couple. Since June 2011, they live together at a villa on Djurgården.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms is quartered by a golden narrow Tatzenkreuz and wearing a heart-shaped shield.

The central shield is divided. Right in blue and red, right diagonally divided by a silver slant bar with a golden pile asked Wasagarbe. At top left in a blue auffliegender right golden eagle with a hovering the constellation " Big Dipper " with seven golden stars.
