Prince of Songkla University

The Prince of Songkla University ( Thai มหาวิทยาลัย สงขลา นครินทร์, RTGS: Mahawitthayalai Songkhla Nakkharin; " Prince of Songkhla University - "; Prince of Songkla University English, SPU ) is a state university in Southern Thailand. The university is after Prince Mahidol Adulyadej, Prince of Songkhla, the father of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX. ), Named.

History

The University was created in 1967 as the third public university outside the capital Bangkok. In 1968 she moved to the University of Southern Thailand ( University of Southern Thailand) to Pattani. 1971, the campus was opened in Hat Yai, learn where today more than 50% of the students. Phuket opened in 1977, Surat Thani Trang in 1980 and 1991. Today, more than 36,000 students study at the Prince of Songkla University.

Ranking

In the QS World University Ranking 2013, Prince of Songkla University counted in some subjects (especially in the humanities groups, as well as medical and life sciences ) to the five most prestigious universities in Thailand.
