Puerto Carabuco Municipality

The municipality of Puerto Carabuco is a district in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

The municipality of Puerto Carabuco is one of three Municipalities of the province of Heliodorus Camacho and is located in the southern part of the province. It is bordered on the northwest by the municipality of Puerto Acosta, on the west by Lake Titicaca, on the south by the province Omasuyos, on the east by the province Muñecas, and to the north by the municipality of Mocomoco.

The municipality has 126 localities ( Localidades ), the central location of the municipality is Puerto Carabuco with 416 inhabitants in the central part of the municipality. Larger village in the municipality are Chaguaya with 694 inhabitants and Quilima with 603 inhabitants. (2001)

Geography

The municipality of Puerto Carabuco located on the Bolivian Altiplano at an average altitude of 3900 m, between the eastern shore of Lake Titicaca and the western edge of the Cordillera Real.

The mean average temperature of the municipality lies at 10 ° C, the annual precipitation is about 600 mm (see climate chart El Alto). The region has a pronounced diurnal climate, the monthly average temperatures vary only slightly between 7 ° C in July and 11 ° C in December. the monthly rainfall range from less than 10 mm during the months of June and July and close to 100 mm from December to February.
