The Club Club Social de Deportes Rangers, also known as Rangers de Talca, was founded in 1902 in the city of Talca, the capital of Región del Maule in the center of the country. The name of the association refers to an idea one of the founding fathers, a Scotsman, in reference to the local club Glasgow Rangers.

First, the Rangers de Talca for many years were not to be found in professional soccer in Chile. In 1952 succeeded the first-time promotion to the Segunda División, the second- highest division of the country. There one was immediately second and therefore qualified in 1953 for the first time for the Primera División. In the following years the club experienced always times when we could establish itself in the top division and achieve decent rankings, but also phases that brought the team back to the second or even third-class. Probably the biggest success in club history managed the Rangers de Talca in 1969, as one División into second place went to the Primera, only two points separated the Rangers CF Universidad de Chile, which was able to secure the championship. However, by this second place the team for the Copa Libertadores in 1970 to start. Here, however, one difference in the first group stage as the last of the group of three behind Club Guaraní, Universidad de Chile, Club Olimpia and the two Colombian representatives Deportivo Cali and America de Cali knocked out. To date, this participation in the Copa Libertadores is the only one for the club, for it again soon went downhill after the runner-up, a few years later was playing second-rate.
