Razlog

Razlog [ rɐzɫɔk ] ( Bulgarian Разлог ) is a town in southwestern Bulgaria Blagoevgrad. At the same municipality ( Obschina ) still belong next to the town Razlog places Banja, Dobursko, Jeleschnitza, Batschewo, Godlewo, Gorno Draglischte and Dolno Draglischte together nearly 23,000 inhabitants.

Geography

Razlog is situated in the valley of the river Mesta between Pirin Mountains in the west and the Western Rhodopes in the East or in the Razlog Valley between the Pirin Mountains in the South and the Rila Mountains in the north.

Tourism

Not far from Bansko ( bus service ), the fourth largest winter sports center in Bulgaria, also Razlog has developed into a winter resort since the 1990s.

The nearest snow-capped mountains are Kapatnik ( 2170 m, Rila), Rawnik ( 2419 Rila), Goljam Mechi Wrach ( 2617 Rila), Daitow Warach ( 2597, Pirin ), Pirin ( 2593 ) and Vihren ( 2914 Pirin ).

Also, the Pirin National Park is not far away.

Infrastructure

Razlog is located on the in the Razlog Valley drifting road between Simitli in the west and Jundola ( Pazardzhik Oblast ) to the east, from Razlog itself, the road over Bansko along the Mesta by Gotse Delchev in the south.

In addition, the Rhodopenbahn Razlog about Velingrad with Septemwri (both in the Pazardzhik Oblast ) to the east and Bansko with Dobrinishte in the south connects. Together with Bansko Razlog foster an airfield for the tourism region, next to Razlog but is also Gotse Delchev as a location in the conversation.

History

The city was first mentioned during the reign of Byzantine Emperor Basil II, as this 1018, the entire region snatched the Bulgarians.

Under the perpetual rule of the Ottoman Turks since 1393 Mehomia the region was named. Numerous Bulgarians converted to Islam ( cf. Pomaks ). Between 1893 and 1903, Razlog involved in the multiple uprisings (including the Ilinden Uprising Preobraschenie ) the revolutionaries of the Bulgarian Macedonian - Adrian Opeler Committee ( Bulg Български Македоно - Одрински революционни комитети, short BMARK ) were organized and against the Ottoman- Turkish rule were addressed. The uprisings were brutally however, defeated by the Turkish rulers with the help of the local Muslim population.

In the first of the Balkan Wars Bulgarian troops liberated the city in 1912, the entire region Blagoevgrad fell in 1913 finally to Bulgaria.

Population
