Rečica ob Savinji

Rečica ob Savinji ( German: Rietz ) is a municipality in the Spodnja Štajerska region in Slovenia.

In the overall community consisting of 12 villages 2339 people live. The main town Rečica ob Savinji alone has 555 inhabitants and is situated in the Upper Savinja. Rečica ob Savinji is located on Rečicafluss from which the name of the settlement was derived. First mentioned was the place in 1231. During the 14th century the settlement was granted market rights. The place is still the pillory from the Middle Ages.

Rečica ob Savinji belonged until 2006 to the municipality Mozirje. Since then, she is an independent municipality.

Worth seeing is the church of St. Kanzian in the main town Rečica ob Savinji. The 1799 burned down in a fire in 1804 the church was rebuilt.
