Reformed Congregations

The Gereformeerde Gemeenten ( German: Protestant communities ) is a Dutch Church Federation, which belongs to the Reformed churches. It was created in 1907 by the merger of Ledeboerianer and Gereformeerde Gemeenten onder het Kruis. Its roots go back to 1834 was Afscheiding ( separation) of the Dutch Reformed Church. 1953, divided the Gereformeerde Gemeenten in Nederland from ( Reformed churches in the Netherlands).

The churches of the strict Calvinist milieu to which, inter alia, nor the Altreformierten communities in the Netherlands and the Christelijke Gereformeerde Kerken belong also ( pejoratively ) referred to as Black stockings churches. The social life of their members plays for the most part from each other. People meet, especially in the church, school, club and also at work. In the political sphere, many members of the Church select the state Kundig Gereformeerde Partij. Sundays will be held daily two services in which preaching the word is at the center. Church attendance is above average.

The current 156 municipalities in the Netherlands have 105,784 members and employs 154 pastors. Under the name The Netherlands Reformed Congregations includes 28 communities in the U.S. and Canada for church association. He maintains a mission organization ( Zending Gereformeerde Gemeenten ), which is active missionary in Papua New Guinea and Ecuador.
