Reith bei Kitzbühel

Reith is a municipality with 1657 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Kitzbühel in Tyrol, Austria. The municipality is located in the judicial district of Kitzbühel in the Brixen Valley, in the immediate vicinity of Kitzbühel.

Geography

Reith bei Kitzbühel about 5 kilometers north- west of the district capital of Kitzbühel, nestled between Bichlach and the roughening head. The municipality belongs to the Brixen Valley and forms the transition to the Sölllandl. The town is crossed by the Reither Ache is like the city of Kitzbühel at 762 meters above sea level.

History

The name Reith was mentioned in a document in 1190 for the first time as " ruote " ( clearing old place) and it belonged to the Monastery of Berchtesgaden. On Rerobichl and Astberg silver and copper were mined from the 15th to the 18th century. The first church, which was already at the present church site was consecrated in 1188. In the 15th century it was enlarged in the Gothic style in 1729 and rebuilt as a Baroque pilaster church.
