Reyes Estévez

Reyes Estévez ( Reyes Estévez López, born August 2, 1976 in Cornella de Llobregat ) is a Spanish middle distance runner.

Reyes Estévez in 1993 and 1995 European Junior Champion in the 1500 meter race. In 1997 he won at the U23 European Championships.

After Estévez was excreted in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta in the semifinals, he could win his first medal in 1997 in the adult population, as it the bronze medal behind Hicham El Guerrouj won from Morocco and his countryman Fermín Cacho at the World Championships in Athens.

1998 Estévez won at the European Championships in Budapest ahead of Portugal's Rui Silva. Bronze won the European Champion from 1994 Cacho.

Estévez ran at the 1999 World Championships in Seville his fastest time when he won bronze in 3:30,57 minutes again, this time behind El Guerrouj and the Kenyan Noah Ngeny.

The 2000 season missed Estévez largely, but at the World Indoor Championships in 2001 he was back and won silver behind Rui Silva, but before Noah Ngeny. At the World Championships in Edmonton Estévez finished fifth.

2002 Estévez was second at the European Championships in Munich behind the Frenchman Mehdi Baala and before Rui Silva.

According to a sixth place finish at the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint- Denis and a seventh place finish at the 2004 Olympics he won at the European Indoor Championships in 2005 again two medals when he was about 1500 m and 3000 m respectively of third parties.

Reyes Estévez has a competition weight of 70 kg at a height of 1.87 m.
