Rhein-Sieg-Express

The Rhein-Sieg -Express ( also marketed as RSX ) is a regional express line in the rail transport of the states of North Rhine -Westphalia and Rhineland -Palatinate from Aachen Duren, Cologne, Troisdorf, Siegburg and Betz village after victories. It is operated by DB Regio.

The annual operating performance on the track is about 2 million train kilometers.

History

The Regional Express ( RE) 9 exists under this name since the introduction of the integral interval timetable ( ITF) in NRW in 1998, previously ran this line from Mönchengladbach, once daily started a train of casting until after Kaldenkirchen.

As of 1998, the train from Krefeld Neuss, Cologne, Siegburg Siegen and Giessen ran. The rolling stock was already out -pull trains with locomotives of the series 111 and five double-deck cars.

The Rhein-Sieg- Express replaced in December 2003 with the RE 7 (Rhein -Münster -Express ) from Cologne, the Rhine's left bank branch and moves since then to Aachen. Since the timetable change in December 2009, is no longer held in Eilendorf and Nothberg. In December 2010 Porz was added as a new rule maintenance.

The Rhein-Sieg- Express is the purpose of transport association Rhineland, have been invited SPNV Rhineland-Palatinate North and purpose transport association Westfalen-Lippe for a takeover of operations in December 2010. Offers could be submitted until 30 January 2008. In April 2008 it was announced that DB Regio Rheinland ( formerly DB Heidekrautbahn ), in whose favor the DB Regio NRW decided not to participate, the line will operate from 12 December 2010 for 15 years. For 15 electric trains have been ordered type E - Talent 2, referred to in the DB as series 442. There are three three-part, ten four- and two five-part units. Since the agreement was terminated with the purpose associations in North Rhine -Westphalia on the part of the Rhine -Main Transport Association, the Rhein-Sieg- Express terminates since December 12, 2010 in Siegen principle. The section victories - Casting is complete since by the Hessian State Railways operated (RE 99 and RE 40). Because of these schedule changes, the old double-deck cars were by their poorer acceleration, some ports, unable to meet, which is why they were used in the transitional period until the use of the new vehicle with two locomotives of the series 111 ( Sandwich). Because there was a delay in delivery, the end of April 2012, all designated units of the new E- Talent 2 were first approved by the Federal Railway Authority.

Since 10 June 2012, the new multiple units of class 442 and only a circulation drive is still a locomotive of the series run 111 and the old double-deck cars. On a circulation also operate six new, fully air-conditioned double -deck coaches and a locomotive class 120 between 30 July and 4 August 2012, the trains were pulled at short notice due to technical problems on the doors from the circulation and replaced by locomotive-hauled trains. According transport association Rhein-Sieg (VRS ), these were a precautionary measure, because the screws on the doors could no longer be tighten properly because of a co-rotating thread. After extensive research by DB Regio and Bombardier trains will be reinstated.

Since December 2010, the line will be marketed under the ticker RSX. DB Regio Rheinland has hired 55 employees for the line.

DB Regio Rheinland GmbH was taken by DB Regio AG to DB Regio NRW GmbH, which was since August 2011 again the operator of the line and was merged in September 2012 to the DB Regio AG.

With the conversion to Talent 2 on most rounds the timetable change in December 2012, a deterioration of the capacity situation in the rush hour ( HRT ) has occurred without a pre several trains were used with bi-level cars. This deterioration is to be counteracted by the additional provision of a local train with five cars and 440 seats.

The additional trains were run for two years since the change of operator in December 2010 with three or four double-deck cars and a locomotive of the DB Class 111. Since December 2012, they will ( as it did before 2010 ) again formed from locomotives of the series 111 and five n- cars. Since the summer of 2013, this amplifier units are driven partly with Talent 2.

Since the timetable change in December 2012, the hitherto served only by the HVZ amplifier trains stop in Brachbach by all trains on the line is operated as planned, until then always operated stop in Niederschelden, however only by the HVZ - amplifier units.

Train route

The train departs every hour from Aachen main station via the high-speed line between Cologne and Aachen to Cologne Central Station. This section is also served by the NRW -Express ( RE 1 ) with the same rule hold, both lines are condensed into an approximately 30-minute intervals.

From Cologne, the Rhine -Sieg- Express follows the victory route along the way to win victories. In Siegen is connected to the Main -Sieg- Express ( RE 99) Gießen and Frankfurt ( Main). In addition, a connection exists to the Rothaarbahn (RB 93) to Bad Berleburg and at the Ruhr-Sieg -Express ( RE 16) to Essen Central Station. Another important historical connection is the connection to the Heller Valley Railway in Betz village.

The Rhein-Sieg- Express is amplified to the victory line at rush hour, morning drive two additional amplifiers trains to Cologne, afternoon drive two additional trains in the direction of Siegen. These amplifiers operate trains between Au (Sieg) and wins the intermediate holding in Etzbach, Niederhövels, Scheuerfeld ( victory ) and Niederschelden. In the field of VRS between Cologne and Au (Sieg) are Dattenfeld ( victory ) and Rosbach ( win ) the additional support.

From Düren to Niederschelden the tariff of the VRS applies, however, applies when traveling from (or on the way back up ) Au the tariff of the DB.
