Richard Marks

Richard Marks ( born November 10, 1943 in New York City ) is an American editor.

Life

In the late 1960s the average Marks learned craft as assistant to Dede Allen. With it, he cut films like Alice 's Restaurant and Little Big Man. At her side he was responsible for Serpico 1973 as Co - Editor. Marks first independently - charge cut was in 1976 with The Last Tycoon. Just four years later he received his first Oscar nomination for Best Editing for his work on Apocalypse Now. Despite three additional nominations for Terms of Endearment, Broadcast News - Broadcast News and could not be better, Marks was not even awarded for an Oscar. During his career, he worked for different directors such as Francis Ford Coppola, Nora Ephron and Mike Nichols. Marks was responsible for the cut, even in all the films of James L. Brooks.

Since January 15, 1967 Mark is married to Barbara Joan Fallick. Together they have a daughter.

Richard Marks is a member of the American Cinema Editors. In 2013 he was awarded the ACE Career Achievement Award.
