Richard Myers

Richard Bowman Myers ( born March 1, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri ) is a retired general of the U.S. Air Force and was from 1 October 2001 to 30 September 2005, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and thus the highest ranking officer in the U.S. armed forces.

Life

Richard B. Myers came in 1965 in the Air Force one. After his pilot training, he made 4100 flying hours on the fighter aircraft F- 4, F -15 and F- 16th

This was followed by a variety of command and staff positions in the U.S. Air Force.

Before Chief of Staff General Myers was himself, he served under his predecessor, U.S. Army Gen. Henry H. Shelton, 19 months as his deputy. His successor as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Peter Pace is USMC. General Myers and his wife have two daughters and a son.

On 11 September 2001, General Richard B. Myers was routinely representative as Chief of Staff, because the Chief of Staff Henry H. Shelton was on a flight to London. It was on this day from the defense readiness condition DEFCON 3, what happened last in 1973 during the Yom Kippur War.
