Roland Eriksson

Roland Eriksson (* March 1, 1954 in Stora Tuna ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player who in his playing days from 1969 to 1992 among others for the Minnesota North Stars and Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League and the Winnipeg Jets in the World Hockey Association has played.

Career

Roland Eriksson began his career as a hockey player in the junior section of IF Tunabro for which he was active from 1969 to 1971 in the second Swedish league, Division 2. After climbing to Division 1, he spent another three years IF Tunabro, where he in 1973 Årets Junior - Swedish Rookie of the Year - was. In the NHL Amateur Draft 1974, he was selected in the eighth round when a total of 131 players from the Minnesota North Stars. On 7 June 1978, the Swede signed a contract as a free agent with Minnesota's league rival Vancouver Canucks.
