Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Łódź

The Archdiocese of Łódź (Latin: Archidioecesis Lodziensis, poln: Archidiecezja Łódzka ) is an archbishopric in Poland. The archbishop of Łódź is also Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of the same name, which the diocese Łowicz is assumed as suffragan.

History

The diocese was founded on December 10, 1920 and raised in the restructuring of the Catholic Church in Poland with the Apostolic Constitution Totus Tuus Poloniae Populus of 25 March 1992 to the archbishopric.

Since 24 February 2004, it was raised by the Apostolic Constitution Spiritale incrementum also the Metropolitan seat. Cathedral is the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka (since 1989 Minor Basilica ).
