Also, reference is made to the old word Rota, indicating a pre-Christian place of worship on a hill. The current location of the Evangelical Church with the calibration wells in the vicinity might mean.

Although since time immemorial, the place belonged to Castell, Rüdenhausen was awarded for centuries to minions, among others Seckendorf, Fox Dornheim and the noble family of Gnodstadt. When in 1803 the last Count of Castell-Rüdenhausen died without issue, the county was divided again. Two brothers of the line Castell- Remlingen founded the new lines of Castell- Castell ( Albrecht Friedrich Carl ) and Castell -Rüdenhausen ( Christian Friedrich). Due to the media coverage of the county Castell in 1806 was also the former Office Rüdenhausen to Bavaria.
