The Rugby Park is a football stadium in Kilmarnock, Scotland. It is the home and property of the Scottish football club Kilmarnock.

History

The stadium was opened on 1 August 1899. The Main Stand learned in the years 1961 and 1989 a renovation. In the summer of 1968 we improved the floodlights, which live television transmissions allowed. After the last game against Kilmarnock FC Glasgow Rangers (1-0 ) on 7 May 1994 began the next day the demolition of the old Rugby Park. The venue was transformed into a pure football stadium that is exclusively equipped with seats. The opening of the new building was held on August 6, 1995 in front of 10,004 spectators and instead of FC Kilmarnock met the Blackburn Rovers ( 0:5 ). In summer 1999, the pitch was a grass heating and two years later a drainage system. The drainage system was in operation, but so loud that residents felt disturbed it. The association then had to resort to plastic sheeting is blown under the warm air. The Rugby Park holds today on its four roofed grandstands 18,128 spectators. In June 2002, the club, the four- star hotel "Park Hotel " with 50 beds in close proximity to the stadium opened. 2004 opened a new sports bar in the Main Stand. The Scottish national team was here already from games. The stadium also hosts concerts, as occurred, for example, British singer Sir Elton John on here.
