The McDiarmid Park is the football stadium of FC St. Johnstone from Perth in Scotland. It is complete with chairs and offers 10,673 spectators. The attendance record dates of May 23, 1999, when 10,525 visitors attended the game of Saintees against FC Dundee.

History

For 65 years of Muirton Park was in the north of the city is home to St. Johnstone to 1986 ASDA Trading Group bought up the land together with the adjacent ice and built a supermarket in its place. The club moved into the newly built stadium on the western edge of the city. The land was donated by a local farmer, Bruce McDiarmid.

Football

The McDiarmid Park is regarded as one of the first of the new stages of the new generation. It was opened on 19 August 1989 with a win against the Saintees Clydebank. The stadium grounds can accommodate 1,000 cars and 100 buses. For the team is an applied training field with synthetic grass, also conference rooms in the main stand in the West. The stadium consists of four individual covered grandstands, three of which are the same size, while the main grandstand on the west side is a little bigger. In the northeast corner, an electronic display board is mounted in front of each also the official team photo is shot.

The South Stand is named Ormond Stand, named after Willie Ormond, the hitherto most successful coaches of St. Johnstone.

Women's national team

The Scottish women's team carries their games at McDiarmid Park.

Rugby

On 13 November 2004, the Scottish rugby union team was against Japan from the first game north of the Forth. The end result was 100:8 for Scotland. For the first time Scotland scored a three -digit result. Chris Paterson scored 40 points ( three tries, 11 increases and a penalty ). The McDiarmid Park was the venue for several matches involving the senior national team. Against 1999, won in the same year was followed by a draw against Argentina. In 2000, Scotland was able to win against Samoa, 2003, game against Italy was lost. The Glasgow Warriors (formerly Glasgow Caledonians ) wore their home games at McDiarmid Park.

On November 21, 2006, they played Scotland against Australia in Perth the first home game in three years.

On 23 February 2007 Scotland sent a further match against Italy from the McDiarmid Park.
