Then he lost to Chadschimurad Gazalow from Russia and in the fight for the bronze medal against Georgi Gogschelidse from Georgia. His fifth place was but a good start at a European Championship, considering that he was at that time already 29 years old. Even better, he cut a few months later from the World Cup 2006 in Guangzhou. He won there over Francesco Miano Petta from Italy, Patal Hropit from India and Vasily Tesmenezki from Ukraine. In the semifinals, he lost again against Georgi Gogschelidse, but in the fight for a world championship bronze medal he defeated the former world champion Alireza Heidari from Iran.

On the way to this success, he defeated Mindaugas Rumbutis, Lithuania, Moldova and Moldovan Anatoli Shamil Gitinow from Armenia, before losing in the final against Schirwani Muradov from Russia. Less well he cut off in the World Cup this year in Baku. He won there over Gergely Kiss of Hungary and Nikolai Schterew from Bulgaria, but after a defeat against Daniel Cormier from the United States, he left and came only on the 11th Place. In 2008, he started only at the European Championships in Tampere. He defeated there Bartolomiej Bartnicki from Poland, lost against his nemesis Georgi Gogschelidse, then defeated Nikolai Schterew and Nicolai Ceban from Moldova, but was defeated in the battle for the bronze medal Olympic champion from 2004 Chadschimurad Gazalow. He came therefore again to a 5th place. For participation in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, he could not qualify.

In 2009, he won no medals at the International Championships. He reached with a 7th place at the European Championship in Vilnius, where he started in the heavyweight division and a 5th place at the World Championships in Herning / Denmark, where he took up again at light heavyweight, respectable rankings. In 2010 and 2011 he started only at the World Championships in Moscow or Istanbul. With two championships he won a bronze medal in this light heavyweight division. In Moscow he lost to Chetag Gasjumow from Azerbaijan and won the medal by victories in the consolation round of Chetag Pliew from Canada and Alexei Krupnijakow from Kyrgyzstan and in Istanbul he lost to Reza Yazdani of Iran and won the bronze medal by beating Gergely Kiss and Sinivie boltic from Nigeria.
