Russo-Balt

Russo - Balt (Russian Руссо - Балт, also Russo - Baltique ) was from 1909 to 1923, a Russian car manufacturer in Riga. There is also the first in series was produced heavy bomber in the world, the four-engined Sikorsky Ilya Muromets.

History

Between 1909 and 1915, the cars in the Russian -Baltic Wagon Factory RBWS were ( Русско - Балтийский вагонный завод РБВЗ ) in Riga (now in Latvia ) produced. The first car was the work of the then chief designer, a Swiss named Julien Potterats. Potterats ran in 1911 from Riga by car through Europe, as well also in Switzerland.

1917 opened a second factory in St. Petersburg, where the chassis manufactured in Riga were provided with a tank construction.

In 1922 the production was moved from St Petersburg to Moscow to BTAZ and changed the brand name for the current 1922 to 1923 car production on Prombron. Russo - Balt produced both trucks as well as cars, among other things, to the license of the German Rex - Simplex and Belgian Fondu. This Moscow operation is then worked out in today's GKNPZ Khrunichev.

Concept car in 2007

Alevel presented in spring 2007 at the Geneva Motor Show a prototype with the brand name Russo - Baltique from which was created in collaboration with Gerg.
