History

The association of the country was founded in 1931. He is a member of FIFA since 1990 and previously had been two years a provisional member of UEFA. According to FIFA, there are 30,000 inhabitants in the Republic about 2800 football players, of which 1,500 players registered.

According to some unofficial games - including against an Olympic team from Canada (1986) and against Lebanon (1987 ) - it came on 14 November 1990 on the first official match against Switzerland. The Sammarinese football team holds a record: Davide Gualtieri scored against England in 1993 in the qualifying the fastest goal of the international countries game history after just 8.3 seconds. San Marino still lost with 1:7.

Ten teams were able to achieve against San Marino their highest victory, last on 6 September 2013, the Ukraine by a 9-0 in World Cup qualifier. Only against Guam were more teams (12 ) reach their highest victory.

Germany and San Marino were dissolved in qualifying Group D for Euro 2008. On 6 September 2006, the teams met each other for the first time in Serravalle. The return match took place on June 2, 2007 in Nuremberg, it was 0:6 ( 0:1) are lost, leaving San Marino barely missed a 0-0 at halftime.

Internationals against Switzerland

The selection of San Marino has played only twice against the Swiss national football team, both games were compulsory games during qualifying for the European Championship 1992. International matches against Austria

Both previously been transferred to the Austrian national team games were compulsory games to qualify for the European Championship 2000. Andy Selva has long been the only player of the national team of San Marino, who has scored more than one goal for the national team of San Marino. On August 14, 2012 Manuel Marani scored his second goal against Malta. After San Marino thereafter remained without a goal more than a year, Alessandro Della Valle succeeded on September 10, 2013 with his first goal at 1:5 against Poland again a goal for San Marino.
