Sanluri

Sanluri is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 8429 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Medio Campidano in Sardinia. Sanluri is the seat of the provincial government and the president of the province. The provincial capital Villacidro located 18 kilometers southwest of Sanluri.

History

Numerous archaeological findings emphasize the importance of the settlement, particularly in the Middle Ages. In 1409 it comes to the battle of Sanluri: The King of Aragon and Sicily defeat with their troops, the rule of Arborea and allied Republic of Genoa.

Traffic

Due to the community run the Strada Statale 131 Carlo Felice, the Strada Statale 107 di San Gavino e del Flumine and the Strada Statale 293 di Giba. The narrow-gauge railway (950 mm) from Isili to Villacidro is shut down since 1958. At the non-electrified also ( standard gauge ) railway Cagliari - Golfo Aranci Marittima however, there is still the Sanluri Stato railway station.
