Sanom District

Amphoe Sanom ( Thai: อำเภอ สนม ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Surin. The Surin province is located in the northeast region of Thailand, the so-called Isaan.

Geography

Amphoe Sanom borders the following districts (from north clockwise): Amphoe to the Rattanaburi, Non Narai, Samrong Thap, Sikhoraphum, Chom Phra, Tha Tum. All Amphoe located in the province of Surin.

History

The original name of today's county town was Ban Nong Sanom ( บ้าน หนอง สนม ), she was a Mueang Surin. In 1893 she was assigned Mueang Rattanaburi today's Amphoe Rattanaburi.

The small district ( King Amphoe ) Sanom was established on 1 July 1971 by the five Tambon Sanom, khaen, Na Nuan Nong Rakhang and Phon Amphoe Ko from Rattanaburi were separated. On April 12, 1977, he was officially promoted to Amphoe.

Management

Amphoe Sanom is divided into seven subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 78 villages ( Muban ).

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Sanom ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สนม ), consisting of parts of the tambon Sanom,
  • Khaen ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล แคน ), consisting of the whole tambon khaen.

In addition, there are seven " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
