Sant Climent Sescebes

Sant Climent Sescebes is a Catalan municipality in the province of Girona, northeastern Spain. It is located in the comarca of Alt Empordà.

Location

Economy

The community is dominated by agriculture and there are mainly cultivate grapevines and olive trees; the harvested grapes and olives are processed into wine and olive oil in the local cooperative and marketed under the guarantee of origin Empordà. Within the city limits is the military barracks General Alvarez de Castro.

Passion Play

Nationwide awareness has the passion play La Passió that is listed for more than 30 years of about 100 amateur actors from the place during Semana Santa. The open air theater is located outside the village center and is fully integrated with the there naturally occurring cork oaks, olive trees and the boulders of design used in the Mediterranean landscape. The musical and visual presentation accompanied by 60 technicians of the Passion of Jesus Christ takes about one and a half hours and ends with the crucifixion scene.
