Sant Pere Pescador

Sant Pere Pescador ( cat. [ ˌ sam ˌ peɾə pəskəðo ], Spanish: San Pedro Pescador, [ ˌ sam ˌ peðɾo peskaðoɾ ] ) is a municipality in the autonomous region of Catalonia ( Spain) in the province of Girona, in the comarca of Alt Empordà (Spanish: Alto Empordà ). The municipality has 2175 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013) and covers an area of ​​18.47 km ². The town lies on the river Fluvia, which flows near Sant Pere Pescador in the Gulf of Roses. The estuary, as well as almost the entire area to the mouth of the river La Muga, is part of the Parc Natural dels Empordà Marshes, the second largest wetland in Catalonia. The town thrives on tourism and agriculture (especially apple production ).
