Å aplava

Šaplava ( German Schaplawa ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers north of Nový Bydžov and belongs to Okres Hradec Králové.

Geography

Šaplava is located on the right side of the creek Kralicky creek on the East Bohemian panel. To the northwest rises the Hořeník (271 m).

Neighboring towns are Tereziny Dary and Lískovice in the north, Sukorady in the northeast, Kouty in the east, Blažkov, Kanice and Myštěves the southeast, Loučná Hora in the southwest, Podlesí in the west and Ohnišťany in the northwest.

History

The first mention of Šaplava place in the year 1381st The place was seat of the noble family of Šaplava. 1576 bought Jiřík Ostroměřský the village and had a fortress built in the southwestern part. Was followed by several changes of ownership. Before the Thirty Years' War, the village belonged to Sylwar of Silberstein. The goods in January Sylwars were confiscated after the Battle of White Mountain, and sold to Magdalena Trček of Lobkowicz. These mortgaged the property in 1629 to Albrecht von Wallenstein. In the 18th century it was enlarged. In 1835 opened a village school. Main occupation of the inhabitants was the weaving.

After the abolition of patrimonial Šaplava formed in 1850, market town in the district of Nový Bydžov. 1930 reached the village with 286 inhabitants, is the largest population in its history. Since 1961 Šaplava belongs to Okres Hradec Králové.
