Saša Hiršzon

Saša Hiršzon (born 14 July 1972 Varazdin, Yugoslavia ) is a former Croatian tennis player.

Life

Hiršzon began playing at the age of six years of tennis. His first tournament on the ATP Challenger Tour he played in 1989 in Genoa, where he also reached the second round. In 1991 he reached the singles final of the Challenger tournament in Reggio Calabria, where he was Lars Koslowski inferior. In July 1993, he first achieved a double finalist in the Challenger tournament in Tampere on the side of Christian Ruud. In the following week, both managed the tournament victory in Montauban. After Hiršzon had previously played with changing partners, he joined in August 1993 in Kitzbühel for the first time on the side of Goran Ivanisevic on who was to remain his favorite doubles partner until 1998. This partnership meant for Hiršzon an important career move, because in the result, both were successful on the ATP World Tour. Throughout his career, he was able to win two tournament victories in doubles on the ATP World Tour and ATP Challenger Tour. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached in 1993 with position 214 in single and in 1997 with position 85 in doubles.

His best result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the third round of the doubles competition at Wimbledon in 1997. Alongside Sander Groen he lost to eventual finalists Jacco Eltingh and Paul Haarhuis. In the individual he was never able to qualify for a grand slam tournament.

Hiršzon played between 1994 and 1998 14 single and 9 double appearances for the Croatian Davis Cup team. In the Summer Olympics 1996, he went to a double for Croatia. On the side of Goran Ivanisevic, he reached the quarterfinals, where both were subject to the subsequent Bronzemedaillisten David and Marc -Kevin Goellner Prinosil from Germany.
