The Sauber C19 was a Formula 1 racing car of Red Bull Sauber Petronas and was used in the 2000 Formula 1 season. The tires, Bridgestone made ready and the engine supplier was Petronas with a 3.0 -liter V10 engine.

Driver

Driver of the C19 were Pedro Diniz and Mika Salo. They denied 16 of the 17 races of the season 2000. Only at the Brazilian Grand Prix moved his Sauber cars after qualifying back because there were problems with the rear wing.

Advertising and painting

Main sponsors were the Malaysian oil company Petronas and the Austrian beverage company Red Bull

The painting was very similar to that of previous years. Inspired by the colors of the main sponsors of the lower part of the chassis in Petronas cyan, the upper in Redbull blue was kept. Also, the yellow shade of the nose was the same as that of the beverage manufacturer. On the rear wing was a lettering and logo on the engine cover were installed by Red Bull. On the side boxes were writings of Petronas.

Season 2000

Start to the season with problems

The season started initially not good. In the first race Diniz retired with a gearbox failure. Salo drove a good race and took the checkered flag in sixth. After the race put the race stewards an illegal front wing fixed - the points placement was withdrawn subsequently. In the following race, Diniz and Salo qualified in positions 20 and 22, however, Sauber withdrew his vehicles because of problems with the rear wing before starting back for safety.

The first successes

In the third race in San Marino succeeded Mika Salo, retract the first point of the season with a sixth place. Diniz finished the race in eighth. In the next three races, none of the pilots went into a point placement. With two seventh places they failed but just barely. In the seventh race of the season, the Monaco Grand Prix, Mika Salo took the fifth place two more points for Sauber.

Further points

After two more races without points in Canada and France Mika Salo scored in Austria and Germany with a sixth and a fifth place more points. Diniz was up to this point still no points.

Mediocrity until the end

In the remaining six races succeeded in any of the drivers to get more points. Both, however, were regularly in the top ten.

Overall, the C19 nine times fell from 16 at Grand Prix. The best rankings were two fifth places. At the end of the season Sauber had six championship points, reaching eighth in the constructors' championship.
