History

On 21 December 1930, the station of that line E was opened. Designed once the unit type of the railway line with a manifold of levels on both outputs and as usual provided for this line with comfortable staircases on both sides of the sidewalks of the old Frankfurter Allee, she made difficulties in the redesign of the northern end of the former Stalin Avenue between Strausbergerplatz and Alexanderplatz. This part of the road was built from scratch and then modern to 1960; Metro Station remained closed during this work from 31 March 1959 to 2 June 1960. The road has been considerably widened the otherwise broad in the former Stalin Allee green strip on the eastern side accounted for in favor of a wider path for the road to Alexanderplatz, which should be completely redesigned in the following years. The stairwells of subway station were in the way. On the eastern side you replaced the distributor floor by a long pedestrian tunnel that connected the two sides of the street and at the same time served as access to the subway. On the northern side of the Ostausgangs a wide staircase has now been performed across the carriageway onto the sidewalk and passed out face down in one of the new Ladenflachbauten to Schillingstraße on the opposite side. This pedestrian tunnel has now been included in the modernization and decorated with photos of the street and the nearby Alexanderplatz from the construction period around 1960 and the subsequent years. A large inscription on the new wainscoting explains the history of the station. The western output, however, was in 1945 due to the war closed, and there were built around 1970. These outputs were not replaced, probably because of the nearby train station Alexanderplatz, which was about from 1970 better, but not directly accessible by pedestrian tunnel from Schilling Road Metro Station.

2003 the comprehensive rehabilitation of the section Alexanderplatz - Frankfurter Allee. In addition to the superstructure of the track and the stations were extensively renovated and the old tiles replaced by new enameled steel plates. Here, the station received tiles, which should remind us of the original color. The old asphalt surface of the platform was replaced by granite slabs. The north-western access was opened it again. An extension of the mezzanine to the street was doing, however, not made.

The rehabilitation of the sunrises was conducted two years later.
