Schorstedt is a district of the town Bismark ( Altmark) in the district of Stendal, in Saxony- Anhalt, Germany.

Geography

The Altmark village Schorstedt between Bismark ( Altmark) and Osterburg ( Altmark), about 20 km north- west of Stendal. The south of the district is dominated by woodland bellows.

History

The foundation of the town is about 1,700 years back (first Altmark settlement shaft). For inhabited by German farmers part came around the year 800, a Wendish part added ( Slavic settlement period).

Until December 31, 2009 Schorstedt was an independent municipality with the associated district Grävenitz.

That their communities dissolved and a new unified community named town Bismark (Altmark ) were combined. This agreement was approved by the county as a lower municipal supervisory authority and entered into force on 1 January 2010.

In Schorstedt a Ortschaftsrat was formed with five members, including mayor.

Schorstedt is located on the road from Bismark (Altmark ) to Osterburg ( Altmark), the Federal Highway 189 is approximately nine kilometers away. The nearest railway station is located in the ( line - Stendal Salzwedel ) Hohenwulsch 8 km away.

In Schorstedt equestrian sport and motocross play ( host of national championships ) play an important role.
