Querstedt is a district of the town Bismark ( Altmark) in the district of Stendal, in Saxony- Anhalt, Germany.

Geography

The community Querstedt located south of the Altmark, about 20 km west of Stendal. The hilly area around Querstedt (up to 57 m above sea level. NN ) is in the north of Secantsgraben and in the south of the upper lamp to which the district Deetz is limited.

History

The original Slavic populated place first appeared in 1278 on in a document. The stone church Querstedts dates from the early 13th century. The city of Stendal, built in 1409 at the outpost Deetz at the lamp with a square tower ( Deetzer waiting ). This tower was designed to protect against attacks on the old military road to Gardelegen.

Until December 31, 2009 Querstedt was an independent municipality with the associated district Deetz.
