History

The Samtgemeinde Schwarmstedt was formed on March 4, 1974, the territorial reform of Lower Saxony.

Samtgemeinde Mayor

11 September 2011 Björn Gehr was elected as a full-time mayor Samtgemeinde with effect from 1 November 2011. The integrated municipality mayor is next to the Samtgemeinderat and the Committee Samtgemeinde the third organ of the velvet municipality with important self- decision powers. He is the head of the velvet municipality administration, carries out the decisions of the other institutions and represents the Municipality to the outside. So he is also representative of the velvet municipality Schwarmstedt.
