Sea Life Centres
Sea Life is a European brand of commercial large aquariums. The individual exhibitions are called Sea Life Centre.
History and operation
The facilities were formerly owned by the British Vardon Attractions Ltd.. They belong since 1999, founded at a company takeover by its own executives Merlin Entertainments Group. It operates in addition to the aquarium, other attractions such as museums and theme parks, and employs approximately 13,000 employees in the peak season.
Sea Life invests in new locations and often takes appropriate building. This began in the 1990s with the reconstruction of the historic aquarium in Brighton (with the abolition of the dolphins). The sites are designed for a term of 10 to 15 years. Then technically obsolete or less profitable plants are also sold, in England, for example in Hunstanton, Southend- on-Sea, Weston -super- Mare, Rhyl and even the head office in Oban ( Scotland).
In May 2009, an offshoot of the Sea Life Centre within the Legoland Germany was opened. It involves a marine aquarium with tunnel tube. This aquarium is part of the attractions. It is run under the name of Legoland Atlantis by Sea Life.
