Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames
The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames [ kɪŋstən ə ˌ pɒn tɛmz ] is a city district of London. It is located in the southwest of the city. The addition of " Royal Borough " ( royal church ) carries the district because it was during the Middle Ages private ownership of the English kings. With the establishment of the administrative region of Greater London in 1965, he emerged from Municipal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, the Municipal Borough of Malden and Coombe and the Municipal Borough of Surbiton, Surrey.
The population continued in 2008, composed of 79.7 % White, 9.6 % Asian, 2.4% black and 1.7 % Chinese.
Between 900 and 979 seven Anglo-Saxon kings were crowned in Richmond. The Coronation Stone ( coronation stone) is still preserved. Between Kingston, Richmond and Roehampton is the Richmond Park, a former royal hunting area.
