Senèdes

Senèdes ( Freiburg Patois Chenéde? / I ) is a municipality in the district of Sarine in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland.

Geography

Senèdes is located at 748 m above sea level. M., 7 km south of the capital of the canton of Fribourg (air line). The farming village extends on the south side of the Bois d' amont above the valley of Senèdes, in the Alpine foothills zone of Fribourg Mittelland.

The area of ​​only just 0.5 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the pre-Alpine hills east of the Sarine river trench. The communal land extends from the valley of the village Bach northward over the slope of Senèdes to the height west of the Bois d' amont, where 820 m above sea level. M. the highest point of the municipality is reached. From the municipality surface 1997 16 % came from settlements, 10 % of forest and woody plants and 74% to agriculture.

To Senèdes include various individual farms. Neighboring communities of Senèdes are Ependes, Ferpicloz, Le Mouret, Treyvaux and Arconciel.

Population

With 139 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Senèdes one of the smallest municipalities in the canton of Fribourg. Of the 94.5 % inhabitants are French-speaking, German-speaking 4.6 % and 0.9 % speak Italian ( as of 2000). The population of Senèdes amounted in 1900 to 102 inhabitants. During the 20th century, the population increased by strong migration to 1960 by around 45 % to 56 persons. Since then, a significant population growth was again associated with a doubling of the population recorded within 40 years.

Economy

Senèdes was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, the dairy and livestock and to a lesser extent agriculture an important place in the economic structure of the population. More jobs are in small local manufacturing and services available, including woodworking operations. In recent decades, the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the region of Freiburg.

Traffic

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1233 under the name Senaide. Later, the names Senaidi ( 1251 ) published, Senayde ( 1274), Synaide ( 1443 ), Synaidy ( 1449 ), Sinayde (1501 ) and Sinedi ( 1644). The etymology of the place name is not clear. Senèdes is probably composed of the prefix sen (old) and the Germanic word heida ( Heide).

Since the Middle Ages Senèdes was under the rule Arconciel. At the latest in 1484 reached the village under the rule of Freiburg and the Old Landscape ( Burgpanner ) has been assigned. After the collapse of the ancien régime (1798 ) was one Senèdes during the Helvetic the district of La Roche and from 1803 to the district of Freiburg, before it was incorporated in 1848 with the new cantonal constitution in the Sarine district.
