Sergei Sednev

Serhiy Anatolijowytsch Sednjew (Ukrainian Сергій Анатолійович Седнєв, Russian Сергей Анатольевич Седнев; born December 19, 1983 in Hluchiw, Sumy Oblast, Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, Soviet Union) is a Ukrainian biathlete.

Serhiy Sednjew occurred since 2002 in the Junior European Cup. Here he won two races in Ridnaun. In the Junior European Championships in 2004 in Minsk, he won silver in the relay, at the Junior World Championship 2004 in Haute Maurienne bronze in the pursuit. In the summer of that year he also won the bronze medal in the pursuit at the Junior World Championships in the summer biathlon of Osrblie. Very successful he was at the Universiade 2007 in Turin, where he won silver in the individual and in the relay, and bronze in the sprint and pursuit.

2004 Sednjew was also first used in Biathlon World Cup and was 67th in the 10 km sprint of Ruhpolding. In the following years the Ukrainians between World and European moving back and forth. Only in 2007, he succeeded in something to stabilize. He could participate in a biathlon World Cup in Anterselva the first time and there was 42 in the 20 km individual race. However, it took until the first race of the Biathlon World Cup 2007/ 08, when he won as 26th in the individual Kontiolahti his first World Cup points. In December 2007, in Pokljuka he became the third place in the individual race for the first time on the podium. In the 2009/2010 season Serhiy Sednjew succeeded in Antholz, again in a single, his first victory in the World Cup, mainly due to his flawless shooting performance. Sednjew took part in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. His best result was the tenth place in the persecution. With the season he finished eighth.
