Serhiy Varlamov

Serhiy Wolodymyrowytsch Varlamov (Ukrainian Сергій Володимирович Варламов, Russian Сергей Владимирович Варламов / Sergei Vladimirovich Varlamov, born July 21, 1978 in Kiev, Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian ice hockey player who since May 2011 when HK Donbass Donetsk from the Wysschaja Hockey League contract stands.

Career

Serhiy Varlamov began his career as a hockey player with the Swift Current Broncos, for by 1998 he was active from 1995 in the Western Hockey League. During this time he was taken on 18 September 1996 as a free agent by the Calgary Flames under contract, with the Ukrainians stood in the five years in the franchise Calgary's only eight times in the National Hockey League on the ice. Instead, he played for the farm team of the American Hockey League, the Saint John Flames, with whom he won the Calder Cup in the 2000 /01 season. From 2001 to 2004, the attackers played for the St. Louis Blues, but also graduated from mostly games for their AHL farm team, the Worcester IceCats.

Then Varlamov returned to Europe, where he began the 2004/05 season with Ak Bars Kazan of the Russian Super League. He then spent three years in their league rivals HK Sibir Novosibirsk, before he was taken in the summer of 2008, Severstal Cherepovets of from the newly formed Kontinental Hockey League contract. In the course of the season left Varlamov Cherepovets to play for SKA Saint Petersburg - but he completed only eight games for SKA in the KHL. He also came two appearances in the league Wysschaja at HK WMF Saint Petersburg. Before the season 2009/10 he was taken from HK Sokol Kiev under contract for which in the Extraliga Belarusian Extraliga, he was in 22 games on the ice. In December 2009, he was obliged by HK Dinamo Minsk.

In June 2010, Varlamov was awarded a contract with the new Ukrainian KHL club, the HK Budiwelnik Kiev. As this did not take up the game mode, Varlamov returned to Dinamo Minsk. Since May 2011 he is at the Donbass Donetsk from HK Wysschaja Hockey League contract.

Internationally

For Ukraine Varlamov took the B World Championships in 2008 and 2009, as well as the A- World Championships 2000, 2003, 2004 and 2005 in part. In addition, he was in the squad of Ukraine to the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City and in the qualification for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
