Sierning is a market town with 9041 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Steyr-Land in the eastern part of Upper Austria.

Geography

Sierning is on several terraces between the iron town of Steyr and the spa town of Bad Hall at the Steyr River. The place has well-developed walking and biking trails.

History

Some evidence scattered finds that the area was settled by the Romans. At the time of the migration then Slavic settlers were sedentary, living in the vast forests and hunted. Duke Tassilo III. reported in the foundation charter for the nearby monastery Kremsmuenster ( 777 ) of them and mentioned it for the first time the place name Sirnicha ( Slavic Apparition Hill ). Before 985/991 ( mention in the " Synod of mistletoe Bach" ) was also establishing a separate parish by the diocese of Passau. From this mother parish no less than 27 independent subsidiary parishes have emerged, including such important as the former pins Garsten and Gleink.

1588 coined Sierning the history of Upper Austria again, one of the first peasant revolts of the country from here took his output, which stretched to the entire Eisenwurzen. The tumult was finally ended by imperial decree.

  • Church of St. Stephan: built in the Gothic style, mentioned 985/991 ( Synod of mistletoe Bach) documented, one of the oldest in the district of Steyr-Land. Altarpiece " The Stoning of St. Stephen " comes from Michael Rauscher (1904 )

Others

Inaugurated in 2000, community nursery in Sierning - Latvians is named after Sidonie Adlerburg. The girl had been in 1933, exposed as an infant by his biological mother, a Roma from the hospital in Steyr and grew up with foster parents in Latvians. Under the pretext to bring it back to his birth mother, the girl was taken away from the foster parents in 1943 and shortly thereafter deported to Auschwitz, where she died a few weeks later.   • Ruden Kirtag: The Rudenkirta or Ruden Kirtag is since 1732 an annual carnival event in Sierning the occasion of which the so-called Ruden Ruden dance of the smaller groups of men from different regions of Austria, is listed. The market town of Sierning is the largest municipality of the district of Steyr-Land. Their importance in the region Pyhrn Eisenwurzen results from its rich history and its location on major transport routes. In economic terms, the community was Sierning - with the already mentioned in records in 1451 Neuzeug district - one of the most important centers of iron-working in today's Upper Austria. Traffic

Sierning was reached via a branch line of the Steyrtalbahn of Garsten directly with the railroad until 1933 from Bad Hall until 1967. Today, the public transport buses via mail is handled. There are direct connections among other things to Steyr, Wels and Linz. The nearest train stations are located in Steyr ( around 12 km from Sierning, connection to Rudolf train) and pipe in Krems Valley ( station tube - Bad Hall, around 10 km from Sierning, following the Pyhrnbahn ).

Sierning is located on the foothills of Amstetten B122 road over Steyr to Sattledt. The nearest motorway junction is located in Sattledt, around 25 km from Sierning, where the nodes Voralpenkreuz connection to the West Autobahn A1, the Innkreis A8 motorway and the A9 motorway is Phyrn.

Sierning has well-developed bike paths.
