Sileshi Sihine

Sileshi Sihine (born 29 May 1983; Sheno ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner, who won two Olympic medals and has achieved great success on the track and in cross country. He is the husband of Tirunesh Dibaba.

Career

His international career started in 2002 with a sixth place in the junior race of the IAAF World Cross Country Championships and winning the silver medal in the 10,000 meter race at the Junior World Championships.

The following year he was. At the World Cross Country Championships in seventh on the long haul, and won the bronze medal over 10,000 m at the World Athletics Championships in Paris / Saint- Denis

In 2004 he won the bronze medal on the long distance of the World Cross Country Championships, and won at the Olympic Games in Athens 10,000 m silver medal behind his compatriot Kenenisa Bekele and before Zersenay Tadese ( ERI).

In 2005 he took at the World Championships in Helsinki the silver medal in both the 5000 - and also in the 10,000 meter race. In the World Half Marathon Championships in Edmonton, he was fourth.

In 2006 he became vice world champion in cross-country running ( long distance), and at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, he came to the silver medal.

At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 he was the 10,000 meter runner and won thus again the silver medal.

Sileshi Sihine comes from a place 75 km north-east of Addis Ababa.

He is 1.65 m tall and weighs 48 kg. His manager is the Dutchman Jos Hermens.
