Silz, Tyrol

Silz is a municipality with 2559 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Imst ( district court Silz ) of the Austrian state of Tyrol and the District Court seat.

Geography

Silz located in the Upper Inn Valley between Imst and Telfs. The Silzer Innau is a protected since 1997 8.4 -acre floodplain west of the town, with a restraining order at certain months of the year.

Economy

Silz is the seat of one of the two judicial districts of the district Imst. The power plant group Silz (power plants Silz Kühtai ) is one of the most efficient power plants in Europe. The municipality belongs to the winter holiday resort Silz Kühtai. For the summer tourism in Silz rafting on the Inn River plays a significant role. Furthermore, there are in the town of some commercial and agricultural enterprises ( potatoes ).
