Sankt Sigmund im Sellrain

St. Sigmund is a municipality with 167 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Innsbruck Land, Tyrol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Innsbruck.

Geography

St. Sigmund is the rearmost and geographically largest municipality in Sellraintal, a side valley of the Inn valley ( west borders the municipality Stams, whose center but is already in the Inn Valley ). The community is also the highest settlement in the district.

It is drained by the Zirmbach which receives the Gleirschbach in the center and empties into Gries in the Melach.

The municipality comprises the so-called upper valley between Kreuzlehn and Haggen, and the rear Lüsenstal, which can be reached from Gries im Sellrain.

St. Sigmund was a rest stop on the connection path from the Inn valley into middle Oetztal. Situated at the head of the valley community in 1817 and 1970, hit by severe avalanches, why was 1971/72 the hamlet of Old Peida be laid and up in the area of ​​St. Sigmunder local church as a new Peida.

The rear Lüsenstal with the places Praxmar and Lüsens is a popular ski touring and hiking area.

The last mayor elections took place simultaneously with the local elections on March 14, 2010.

Karl Kapferer was elected mayor. He was the only candidate.

The party commonality for the ÖVP St. Sigmund- Praxmar was also the only one that took.

Coat of arms
